The following proposed additions to our CWGA By-Laws, Article XII, were voted on and approved (via our website) following Closing Day
April 8, 2020, by CWGA members.
RATIONALE FOR PROPOSED CHANGES TO BY-LAWS:
• Accommodate the playing of both leagues on Wednesday, CWGA and the Classy Niners
• Amend maximum playable handicap to the world handicap calculation, based on current 33.0 Index from the combined Red/Aqua tees
• Ensure CWGA members have posted at least ten golf rounds during the calendar year to participate in competitive events
Please note changes are as follows:
Section 1:
Existing CWGA members who are currently members of both leagues (the Classy Niners) must choose only one of the leagues for membership in the upcoming season, 2020-2021.
Section 2:
New Classics club members must also make a league selection, based on their skill level, handicap and/or personal preference. To join the CWGA, handicap index must not exceed 33.0, based on playing the combined Red/Aqua tees.
Section 3:
Members having continuous membership, for four or more consecutive seasons, at least since the 2016-17 season, can be grandfathered into the CWGA, even with a handicap index exceeding 33.0; however, will be required to play to the maximum handicap allowable based on world golf handicap guidelines in all CWGA events.
If membership is interrupted, renewal will require a handicap index at the established maximum, currently 33.0, from the combined Red/Aqua tees.
Section 4:
New CWGA member registration for the 2020-21 season will require a verifiable handicap Index of 33.0, or less, to secure membership. The Treasurer will validate the handicap before accepting the registration form and dues.
